IT Engineer, MDM / Cyber Security
Location: Remote | Type: Contract to Hire | Travel: None
Targeted Hourly Pay Rate $43- $48/HR
Team Size: 30-50 employees
Our client who has advanced smart devices to make EV and home ownership cheaper, and more impactful, by building a connected network to balance the electric grid is looking for an IT Engineer to help protect company systems, devices, and data while supporting day-to-day internal IT operations. The candidate will work closely with engineering, compliance, and operations teams to maintain security best practices, support SOC 2 efforts, and improve internal IT systems.
Responsibilities:
Security & Compliance
- Maintain the company existing SOC 2 compliance program, collaborating with a third-party auditor to address exceptions and remediations.
- Assist with internal audits and ensure documentation and controls stay up to date.
Access & Device Management
- Help manage and enforce least privileged access across cloud systems, tools, and infrastructure.
- Deploy and manage MDM (Mobile Device Management) solutions across Mac and Windows devices.
- Ensure endpoint security and compliance across all employee devices.
Monitoring & Incident Response
- Assist in implementing observability tools for security monitoring, alerting, and logging.
- Help coordinate incident response and maintain documentation during investigations.
Internal IT Support
- Support secure onboarding and offboarding of employees.
- Troubleshoot Mac and Windows issues, software configurations, and collaboration tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Slack).
- Maintain device compliance with enterprise customer requirements.
Initial Projects:
- SOC 2 Support – Own the exception remediation process in partnership with our third-party auditor.
- MDM Deployment – Roll out an MDM solution across all company-owned devices.
- Security Monitoring – Help design and implement observability tools to detect anomalies and risks in real time..
Requirements:
- Basic knowledge of cybersecurity principles (e.g., least privilege, encryption, incident response).
- Familiarity with IT systems, device management, and user access controls.
- Experience with both Mac and Windows operating systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Additional Skills:
- Experience with MDM tools (e.g., Jamf, Kandji, Intune).
- Exposure to SOC 2, ISO 27001, or other security frameworks.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Scripting experience (Bash, Python, or PowerShell).
- Security certifications (Security+, Google Cybersecurity Certificate, etc.).
